spouse visa to flr to ilr to naturalisation

Post by pipleton » Wed Jul 06, 2011 7:49 pm

Hi,

I have some question but need to give you some background.

Husband was on a student visa 2003-2007. In 2007 he got a spouse visa. in 2009 in stead of applying for ilr we applied for flr because we didnt have enogh documents to prove we were living together, his flr finishs in dec 2011, my question is that can he apply for ilr now, or does he have to wait 28 days before his flr expires and also can he apply for naturalisation straight away or does he have to wait a year?

thankyou

He can apply for ilr as soon as he meets the requirements. Assuming you are British and he meet the requirements to naturalise as the spouse of a British citizen including having been resident in the UK for three years he doesn't have to wait for a further year to apply for citizenship.
