Question on Tier1(general) approval letter

Post by subbala » Sat Jul 09, 2011 1:37 pm

Hello, all

Today received my approval letter from UKBA for my Tier1 (general) application and thanks to everybody's help with info & clarifications...

However the subject of approval letter says this -

"Application for Leave to Remain under Tier1(Post Study Work) of the Points based system"

Also the letter states this -

"Leave to Remain under Tier1(Post-Study Work) can only be given for a maximum single period of 24 months. Therefore we will not give you any further leave to remain under this category"

I'm confused with the mention of "Post-study work" in the above statements, whereas I applied (alongwith my dependents) under "Tier1 (General) " catergory, switching from current Tier2(ICT).

Does the letter sound normal or could there be a mistake in the approval letter ?
If there's any mistake, what's the next steps ? btw, I'm still waiting for my BRP.
Could you share your thoughts asap...

Thanks much.

Hi Subbala,

Now, it is possible that your Tier 1 General visa has been approved, but there has been a typo in the approval letter sent to you showing it as Post Study Work instead of Tier 1 General.

When your B.R.P comes, you will know for sure what visa you have been granted.

In the interim, I will suggest you try and contact the UKBA a.s.a.p to resolve this issue quickly and send you a correct approval letter.

couple of years back when i applied for tier 1 general initial visa, they gave me tier 1 post study work visa...

I realised this mistake from HO one year after,, made an enquire, they adimitted they have issued wrong visa, took it back and issued a right one.
