Switching from Tier 1 to Tier 4

Post by desperado1306 » Thu Apr 28, 2011 1:14 pm

Hi All,

I got Tier 1 visa in October 2010 but I never travelled to UK till date. I recently got an admit from a B-school in London and am contemplating accepting the same.

As I have found from various posts on this forum, it is not advisable(if not impossible) to go for full-time study without work on Tier 1 to UK, I am thinking of switching from Tier1 to Tier4. I have few quick questions and seek your help.

1. Is there anything different in my case of application from a regular new Tier 4 application?
2. I shall be going with my spouse, so need a dependant Tier4 for her, how much funds do I need to show? Duration of the course is 10 months and location is Central London.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

If you will be studying full time without any work it is advised to go on Tier 4. You cannot switch from within the UK as you hold Tier 1 General so you should get visa from abroad.

1. Your application should be treated as a regular Tier 4.

2. You will need to show 800 per month for yourself upto 9months and 533 i.e 7200pounds for yourself

and 533 per month for upto 9months i.e 4797

TOTAL = 11997 Pounds for maintenance and plus your course fees

You meant 7200 for myself (Tier 4 main applicant) and 4797 for my wife (Tier 4 dependant), right?
TOTAL = 11997 Pounds fo
r maintenance and plus your course fees
Thanks.

Thanks so much. Another quick one, I am paying one-third of the total course fee for acceptance and applying for the student loan right away for the entire course fee. When the loan is disbursed to the school at the beginning of the session, they'd refund me this "one-third" amount.

When I apply for Tier 4 main+dependant, along with CAS and loan approval letter, how would the above arrangement bring down the required funds (in total for us)?

The loan letter would only cover your tution fees or the fees for the course.

And maintenance remains the same as i told u unless u have paid for accomodation!!

Can somebody tell, where do I fill the funds required for the dependant? which form / section?

I filled 800 X 10 = 7200 for myself in PBS Appendix 8 only, and nowhere it asked to fill 599 per month for the dependant.

Am I missing it?

Thanks.
