british citzenship

i have dual citzenship but i choose to be irish born in n. ireland. I married my wife from the filipino under theEEC spouse visa. We both live in n.ireland my wife has a five residence visa valid to dec 2013. My wife would like to come a british citzenship do i also have to give up my irish passport and apply for British passport?
