One year on Irish residency, gonna apply for UK student visa

Post by Angel592 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 5:41 pm

I have one year left on my Irish long term residency, and they will give my permanent residency in a few months, which is renewed every 5 years, but I'm worried if the UKBA sees that I've only got one yr left they won't give me my UK Student visa (3 years and half) .. can I get a letter from my lawyer just to let the UKBA that I'm supposed to be getting my permanent residency in a few months .. I'm just worried that the UKBA won't give me my student visa :(

what is your nationality and is there any reason why you can't return to your home country following the end of your stay in the UK? If yes then you could potentially have a problem under paragraph 322(8 if the eco considers that you will not be returnable to another country and in which case a letter from your lawyer would be wise. If you have no problems returning to your home country then i don't think that your Irish residency being close to expiry is relevant to your application.

Well I'm an Algerian national, I've never lived there I've lived in Ireland all my life. I've only one year left in my CURRENT residency, but I'm eligible for permanent residency in Ireland like in a few months by law anyways so that's what my letter from my lawyer would state. Anyway, I should be getting my Irish passport by the end of this year too or next spring, so I definately will be going back to Ireland.
Thanks, hopefully the letter from my lawyer proving that I'm eligible for permanent residency will help me with my application, as I can't afford losing time and getting my application declined :(

also, by that time I will be married to my British fiance. Would that affect my application? I've had 3 visitor visa's so far which were all granted to be and in each one of them I stated that I will be visiting him. I will be staying with him in his place during my 3 year course in university. I hope being married to him won't affect my application.
