Daughter of British National in Question

Hi,

I just recently met my Dad who is a British Citizen. I was born in the Philippines on September, 1987. My Dad doesn't know anything about me until October of 2009, we had a DNA test to prove that he really is my Dad and the result was positive. Last year (2010) I was granted a visa to visit him for the first time for 6 months.

I would like to know how I can acquire a British Citizenship. Based on the documents I read about the matter I assumed that I can't become an automatic British Citizen by decent even though my Dad is a British Citizen and he acknowledged that I'm really his daughter because I was born between the period of 1983 to 2006 and my parents are not married.

British citizenship may descend to one generation born abroad. If you were born before 1 July 2006 you may not qualify if your parents were not married at the time of your birth.

Is there any way for me to be granted British Citizenship? Did I understood the quoted link correctly? Or can my Dad and I still do something about it for me to be granted to stay in the UK indefinitely?

Kindly help me because I'm completely confused.

Unfortunately, you're too old (over 18) now.

There may be a chance if your father is British otherwise than by descent and he marries your mother.

I see, he's already married to my step mum so that's out of the question. Is there any other way? should naturalization be an answer? if so, how can I apply for it? thanks again.

Naturalisation requires ILR/PR.
