If I, as the sponsor, am moving from Canada to the UK (with my British Passport), what proof of income and housing do I have to show in order for my wife and children to obtain their visas? I am going to the UK one month ahead of their planned departure. I will be starting my job, setting up a bank account, and getting "settled". Do the Visa people need to see 3 months of my pay in the UK? I am working for the same company in the UK that I do in Canada. Can I show my income in Canada and the UK for the past 3 months? Or could I just show my offer of employment and move the whole family together? Any advice is welcome.
Your Canadian wage slips etc would suffice, but you will need a letter from your employers confirming that your post is now to be based in UK rather than Canada. The letter will need to stipulate your job title, hours you will be working and your annual salary. You might just be able to get away with showing your Canadian bank statements of your savings, but if you can transfer those savings into a UK bank account and provide evidence of this, then this would be better.
As far as accommodation is concerned, you can do one of two things. One is that you can stay with close family ( like parents/siblings) providing they have sufficient space to accommodate your family as well. For this you will need a letter from them to say that it is OK for you and your family to stay with them till you are in a position to find your own property.
If you cant do this, then you just need to rent a property big enough for your family to live in. For this you will need a tenancy agreement showing how much rent you will be paying. The TA should suffice for your purpose ( must be for a minimum of 6 months though).
If you can do this, then get your family to submit an application. remember the onus is you to prove that on your earnings you can support, maintain and accommodate your family if and when they arrive. If you can do this you will have no problem. If on the other hand you cant then you've got some problems !!!!
Good luck
