Post by ayan_roy » Fri Aug 05, 2011 9:31 pm

Hi,
I am in Uk since an year now. i am an indian citizen. My student visa is expiring on 30th nov 2011. i am getting married to a british girl this month and then i am planning to apply for a spouse visa, so that i can extend my stay here.

*) I want to know what all documents ll i need to show? and how much fund ll i and my partner ll have to show in our bank accounts? and for how long?

*) If i choose to apply through premium service (£850), how much time ll it take to get the visa? As i have to go to india on november 15th 2011.

*) all my education is done in english medium (including my graduation) do i need an english test here as i haven't done ielts.

Kindly help me with this asap. as time is running out .

Have you read through the guidance notes on form FLR(M)? This will give you a list of documents you need to submit. There is no set limit of funds and you don't have to show savings. You will however, have to prove that you will have a minimum of £105.95 remaining weekly for the two of you after rent or mortgage, council tax and any loan/credit repayments have been made. The case workers will want to see evidence that you will be able to support yourselves without claiming Public Funds....preferably 6 months of pay slips, bank statements..a minimum of 3 months.
90% of applications made in person at a PEO are made on the day.
You will need to take the A1 English test before applying. Bear in mind that test pass certificates can take several weeks to arrive and you will need to submit your certificate with your visa application. I'm assuming you don't have a Batchelors or Masters degree.
One final word of advice. If as a student you have worked in excess of your permitted 20 hours, don't apply in person at a PEO. Apply by post and you may stand a chance of the visa being granted.

Thanks casa for your advice and the quick reply.

i want to make clear that, i have done my graduation (bachelors in computer application from india, and it was done in English language).
And here i worked only 20hrs per week according to my visa. i only worked more than 20 hrs during the term time. i always worked on National Insurance.

i read that if all my studies are done in english medium then i wont be needing an english test.
