MN1 documents

Post by kna872 » Wed Aug 10, 2011 3:12 pm

Hello,

The guidelines of form MN1 do not require passport of parents when applying under section 1(3). But I was just reading in this forum that you have to send both parent's passport along with the application.

Would someone kindly clarify this.

Thank you.

People submit the parent passport as evidence that one of the parents is settled in the UK.

Thanks Jambo, I have to apply for my wife's FLR(M), for which the passports would be required.

The relevant page on HO website is this;

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... documents/

While they are not asking for my passport they are asking for the baby's passport. My baby was born here she does't have any passport. Please advise as to what should I be doing under these circumstances cost effectively.

Thanking you in anticipation,
Ali

The HO pages tend to cater to British citizen registering their children rather than non British applying (same goes for passport applications). Not all the cases are covered in the page.

From that same page:
The documents you need to supply to us will depend on the basis of the application. You should make sure you read all the sections that relate to you and provide all the documents we need. If you do not send us all the documents we need, we will write to you to request them. This will delay your application.

Your child doesn't need to have a passport to apply. You can either apply via NCS at a local council and keep all the documents with you (cost is £25-£30) or apply after your wife's FLR(M) application.
