Post by mayursha » Mon Aug 15, 2011 12:25 pm

Hi Guys,

I had a successful Tier 1 General and Dependant Extension from Croydon Office on Tuesday (09-08-2011).

PEO Appointment Date: 09-08-2011 10.30am
Extension Approved: Same Day 2.00pm
BRP Card Received: Thursday: 11-08-2011

Documents Taken with Me:
- Bank Statements
- Salary Slips

I did not provide anything else, not even the marriage certificate.

I prepared a cover letter but they did not ask or viewed it, was always with me.

Hi there,

Our tier 1 expires 1st October, need to apply for extension. Trying to book an appointment at Croydon, but can't get any appointments online at all. Can you please tell me how to get an appointment online at croydon? next question is, when should I book the appointment? I mean how soon? should I wait until end september? Pls advise thank you,.

Ukay,

I booked online, we have to register with our names, phone numbers etc first and then they provide you with the access passwords by e-mail, once done you can apply for the appointment.

Appointment date should be ideally 3-4 weeks before your visa expires. Try to get an appointment at the earliest. I booked my appointment for 9th August around 1st or 2nd week of July ... its usually packed.

All the best -- if you don't get the appointment at least book at other offices near london and you can always travel there.

Mayur,

Thanks so much.. I am bit worried for settlement 5 years completion.. I got my first tier 1 on the 1st october 2008, and I entered UK on the 12th October 2008. If I extend my visa 3-4 weeks before 1st october 2011 then wouldn't I have a short fall at the time my new visa expire.. I mean wouldn't it be less than 5 years?

Please can you advise.. thank you

Congrats mate.

Just a quick question, I am planning to extend my visa (along with dependant) in the next 2 months (application in person).

I am not sure what my employment status will be then (jumping into contracting, so u know about the uncertainities).

Was there any question of your current employment status during the application process?

Cheers

Ukay,

It doesnt matter -- if your visa expires on 1st October, your new visa will expire on 1st October 2013-2014. They provide the extension duration "from the day your old visa expires".

Though the visa will start from your application, but basically ends on the correct date. So you wont have any issues.

Well you need to provide where you were working and there are some questions on the form regarding contractual jobs.

Sorry for being a pain, when you went in for your extension, did they stamp the visa from the date your current visa expired or did they stamp the date you actually had the appointment? (if no visa stamp on passport then the biometric ID)

To give you a clear idea:

Old Visa - 1-SEP-2008 to 1-SEP-2011
New Visa - 09-AUG-2011 to 1-SEP-2013

New visa starts when applied and ends 2 yrs additional to the old visa

Oh I am all confused, when I rang UKBA enquiry line, they are saying it would be 2 years after the new date stamped!! I asked what if I post, then she says it will be the date application received. I don't know what I should do. Managed to get an appointment on the 28th Sept Croydon, but still wondering whether I should post or go in person.

I Suggest you should just walk in on 28th. so that you get the correct extended date in your new visa.
