Naturalisation & EEA nationals

Post by jau » Thu Aug 18, 2011 10:48 am

Hi,

I've been in the UK now more than 6 years, and planning to apply for a British citizenship.

My case should be pretty straightforward; I'm an EEA national, worked here from the day one I arrived, have P60s for the whole period etc.

Naturally, I'd like to apply BC for my wife & son at the same time, and that is a bit unclear for me: they are both EEA nationals also, lived here with me the whole period. But, do they need to prove they have exercised Treaty Rights here as well (work, studies etc.), or is it enough that they are my family members and apply based on that?

Lot's of information are asked about them in the AN, so just to be sure...

It's good enough that they are family member of an EEA exercising treaty rights (you).
The AN form is not very clear on this but they should tick "family member" in section 2.4 and provide details about your EEA exercising treaty rights activity.
