Youth Mobility Visa -- How long until my bf can return 2 UK?

My BF is from Australia. He applied for the Youth Mobility Visa to enter the UK. The visa was valid for 2 years and it's just expired last may (3 months ago). We've moved to Sierra Leone (Africa) since then but want to return to the UK for Christmas just for a few weeks. Is it possible for him to do that?

I heard you have to wait a year until you're allowed back in but I'm hoping that isn't true...

Can he apply for a holiday Visa right away?

Anyone know?

He can enter as a visitor at any time. He just needs to satisfy immigration that he is a genuine visitor. Although not a legal requirement, they may wonder why he has not returned to AUS yet. Showing ties to home is a big part of his re-enty requirements and if he has no real ties to AUS and is trying to live in the UK, he may be run into difficulties.
