Spouse visa from SEA

Post by prast » Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:44 am

Heyas all,

I have few question about spouse visa, hoping anyone here can help us out.
I am indonesian married to a british citizen. I applied for a spouse visa prior to the wedding and got scheduled for an interview few days later after the wedding. We filled all the doc requirements, letter of employment, mortgage details, bank statement, our relationship records, marriage certificate, wage slips. The interview went ok, yes he asked some grilling question but I dont think I had any problem of answering them. They said I will hear some news in a couple of days and I will definately get my passport back by then. But its been a week and we havent heard anything from them.
Our story is, we met online trough a friend and had a 2 years relationship. In the space of 2 years he visited me 3 times and visited UK once for 3 weeks. He proposed me when I was in the UK and we decided the wedding to be held 8 months later. Not once we missused the visa because we want to do this the right way.
Our stituation is:
- He own his house (paying mortgage).
- He is paying CSA for his son (100 pounds/month) from his previous marriage and share custody.
- He's been working in the same company for 6 years.
- He never receive any public funds.
- He earn 1200 pound/ month before tax.
- He had savings but we used them all for the wedding here in my country.
- He has been over drawn for the last few months due to the wedding prep but only few pounds here and there, nothing outrageous.
- He is still in the black list because of the debt his ex made for around 12.000 pounds. And he had to re mortgage the house because she wanted her money back  But he is due to come out from the black list in a year time.
- His parents and his sisters family came to our wedding.
Questions:
- Which are the pros and cons that will enhance or limit my chance to get a spouse visa?
- How long does the process usually take place?
- If its refused, how long before I can appeal to it?
- If its refused, who is entitled to ask for a review, me or my husband?
- While it is on appeal, can I visit the UK with a tourist visa?
- Is it a good idea or a bad idea to phone the embassy and ask about my application since I dont want to look like I am chasing it?

Any replies will be very appreciated, coz im in the dark here.
Cheers
Prast
