Doing work in EEA - 5 years continuous stay

Post by vimal1206 » Thu Sep 01, 2011 7:02 am

Dear all,

I had a doubt about the 5 year continous stay in the UK which is a major criteria when applying for ILR.

I'm currently on Tier-1(gen) from Dec. 6, 2009 to Dec 2012.

I have been contracting in the UK through my limited company from Jan 2010 until now. I have a contract offer from a company in Brussels (Belgium) for 6 months.

I wanted to understand if I take up this contract and work there for 6 months, will the criteria for ILR which is 5 year continous stay in the UK get impacted?

I did verify the policy document, the rules are not very clear on that.

If i take up this contract the way it would work is, my family will still be based in the UK though I will have to pay taxes to belgium.

In case anyone has encountered such a situation during their ILR application, could you please help me with this question.

Thanks.
