ILR - first entry date

Post by Pulsar » Thu Sep 01, 2011 3:35 pm

Dear experts

I was a on a student visa and then switched to a work permit. I now qualify for ILR. 6.1 on the form asks for the first date of arrival on which the application is based. I entered the country for my final year 12 months before the work permit and did not leave the country until the WP was issued. what should be my first date of entry?
(i.e date when i entered for my first year or 12 months before WP - but then it looks like i entered 12 months in advance?)

Please help.

Thank you in advance.

It's confusing as it refers to date of entry but it is asking for the date your first work-related residence permit was issued as that is the start of the period on which your application is based.

More confusion ?

Post by vijayvasa » Fri Sep 02, 2011 9:32 am

Guys,

Am confused I have just called home office and they are telling me a different version.

I was in UK already with HMV when I was given HSMP on 09th oct 2006. But after that shortly I left to india on 11-11-2006 and returned on 27-11-2006. Customer service clearyl says that I must put 27-11-2006 as this is the first time entry based on HSMP.

Not sure which one is correct. initially I came to UK on 6-11-2004 on HMV.

Can any one kindly explain which one is correct ?

9th oct-2006 is date issued hsmp
27th nov 2006- is the date i came back from india to UK in hsmp
6-nov-2004 first initial entry to UK based on hmv

Feedback is appreciated ?

It's the date you were issued HSMP inside the UK. That's the date your residence period started. Leaving the UK for short period after the HSMP was issued did not re-set the residence period.

Thanks guys,

I guess the issue is clarified. I have spoken to another guy on Customer service and he told me that the date of issue for HSMP start date is the correct date i.e 9th-oct-2006.

Am surprised two out of three guys in the customer service gave me a wrong advice. Thanks for the expert advice of you.
