Tier1 Extension -Accountant Qualification Requirement-icaew

Post by praveen.kesavan » Thu Sep 08, 2011 12:05 am

Hi All,

- I'm applying for my Tier-1 General Extension next month (Oct) from UK.
- I'm a limited company contractor taking dividends and salary.
- Recently understood that the accountant must have a chartered status (eg.ICAEW), which unfortunately my accountant does't have. Therefore letter from my accountant will be not considered by the case worker.
- As there is no time to change the accountant, could any one suggest me a better option to solve the accountant qualification status, please.

Thanks in advance,
Praveen

You can just get another accountant to provide the letter for you. They will ask for the relevant documents to carry out the work and then provide you with the letter.

You won't need to leave your current accountant and can carry on with them after.

Thanks or your reply, I hv also got the following query on your reply,

In that case, if I produce a letter from another accountant and if the case worker calls him for verification, I'm not sure if the new accountant can recollect me and give a feedback. Also If he(accnt.) checks his clients database for giving feedback, I will not be there in his client list, as I have only taken an adhoc letter from him.
Pls clarify.

Thanks
Praveen

I'd be highly surprised if any accountant fell into that category! To function as a business you need a record keeping system of some sort so you'd have to be very unlucky if you found someone who didn't. We get kept in check by our Institute too so I'd suggest that you have far more chance of finding someone who can remember you than someone who can't!

From what you say, if you need an accountant letter and your accountant isn't suitably qualified (but you wish to remain with them) then to be honest you don't have too much choice anyway other than to go this route.

:) this post really made me laugh. you are so cute Praveen.

You think a qualified accountant going to give you a letter for home office just from air and then will forget you.

We dont give a letter to just anybody and then forget it. A qualified accountant will do his/her own checks and review of your personal status and business status before even accepting you a client, let alone giving you an income certificate!

AS per law we should have

ID proof
address proof

supporting documents to certifiy

mentality of getting certificate in £100-150 need to be changed

so before selecting accountant check his reputation

otherwise in future applicant may regret
