I sent my passport and enquiry status by special delivery yesterday i.e. 9/9/11. I hope I will get it back by the end of next week.

rnr, did you get your passport back yet? i sent mine last thursday, havent got it back as yet.

I haven't applied yet mate I m still waiting for my surrender certificate..i think you will get yours in a couple of days good luck

How do you check online status without acknowledgement number. when i try to check with my passport number and online registration number it comes up with 'incorrect passport number'

This means that your application has not yet been acknowledged by the mission

wow thats good it seems that HCI have got their act together and processing applications very efficiently... hopefully you will get it in next week or so..good luck

my surreneder certificate was delivered in less than 10 days...so was so happy hope OCI will be same and painless

I sent mine by special deliver on 19th September, it was received the next day. But now it's 27th September and I still haven't had my application acknowledged. Is that normal, or should I be worried? I would phone the High Commission, but I know they rarely answer their phones

Roo,

Why don't you try to check the status on the website. You will need you British passport number and GBRLI number, which they send by email once you fill in the form. Chances are your application will be in same stage as mine.

Yes, I have been checking the online OCI tracking system, almost twice a day. I'm a bit concerned why it's taking so long, as I've seen from posters who submitted theirs just a few days before mine, already have their process well under way. It could be that they are just being slow, or have a huge backlog to go through. Or maybe I did something wrong on my application?

Ya I sent it same day as you and mine is already printed, waiting to arrive in London.

I guess no need to panic and wait for another week at least.

Were you applying for an OCI based on your own previous Indian nationality, or your parents/grandparents? I am applying based on my mother's Indian nationality. I thought maybe that was why they were taking so long....

I made my OCI application at Edinburgh Inidan Consulate on 9 Sep 11.
(based on my previous Indian citizenship)

I have been checking online and up untill today it has not even been acknowledged. From the timelines here i find some have applied a week later and got the appln. approved.

Is there any phone number/e-mail for status enquiry ?
