Saudi Bank Statement for PSW (Is it reason for refusal?)

Post by ahb09 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 2:57 pm

I have been refused PSW when I applied from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was lack of funds according to the refusal letter, everything else is fine. I know I need to maintain 2800 GBP for a period of 3 months. The minimum balance in my account was 20,700 Saudi Riyal which equals to around 3500 GBP. Although the statement was for three months the amount in my account was for 2 days less than three months.

Do you think that is the reason for the refusal?

Also my name on statement is "my name, my father name, family name" as per saudi culture. But on passport its "my name, my family name".

Should I explain this in a cover letter along with conversion of Saudi Riyals to GBP?

Any help would be appreciated, I wish to apply again soon but don't want to waste money again an again. I hope somebody can advise me on the best course to take.

Thank you very much

If this "2 days less than 3 months" equates to less than 90 days, then yes.

What does the refusal letter say the reason is for the refusal?

In the Maintenance section (where I am given 0 point while I claimed 10) it says:
" You have claimed 10 points for maintenance under paragraph 1-2 of Appendix C of the Immigration rules, but the documents you have provided do not demonstrate that you are in possession of 2,800 Pounds. I am not satisfied that you are in possession of sufficient funds. In line with the published guidance, you have not provided sufficient evidence to show that you have held funds equivalent to 2,800 pounds in total for a three month period prior to making your application."

And at the end it says "Given the above, I have refused you visa application on this occasion because I am not satisfied that you meet all of the requirements of paragraph 245X of the Immigration Rules."

This is what it says. As for 90 day thing then my balance was maintained from 7th June till 5th Sept (the date of bank statement). Since July and August have 31 days it equals 90 days to be exact. But not three months (as in from 7th June till 7th September).
