Continuous residency requirement

Post by sameergk » Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:43 pm

Hi,
Please can someone help me with my doubt?

I would like to know if the time period between the date of visa stamping and the date of entry into UK is counted towards the maximum permitted absence from UK of 180 days within the 5 year period?

My situation:
Visa stamped on 20June 2007. Entered UK on 24July 2007. Gap: 34 days.
Have been out of the country for 164 days , "since entering UK" , i.e. 24july2007. If I include the initial gap of 34 days the total absence equals 198 days.

a. Am I eligible for applying for ILR when my current visa expires?
b. If yes can I opt for an in person interview 28 days before the Visa expiry , i.e. 24th may 2012? If not how many days in advance can I apply through post?

Many thanks for your time in advance

Regards
Sameer
