Tier 1 General Extension - Total Points

Post by rahulaborkar » Fri Sep 30, 2011 7:12 pm

Hi,

I was bit confused with the guidance document which states as below,
My query is, I have been granted Tier 1 Visa on 5th September 2010, so for extending my visa, how much points do i need to qualify?
is it 75 or 80?

Appreciate any help on this and thanks in advance.

48. Important - An applicant last granted
leave as a Highly Skilled Migrant, as a Writer,
Composer or Artist, Self-employed Lawyer,
or as a Tier 1 (General) Migrant under the
rules in place before 19 July 2010, and who
has not been granted leave in any categories
other than these under the rules in place since
19 July 2010, must have 75 points from their
attributes (Appendix A of the Immigration
Rules).
Applicants who do not fall into the above group
must score 80 points for attributes.

you will need 80 points to qualify since yours was approved after 19 July.

When did you apply for your visa? It's not based on approval date, but date that you applied which determines the rules you fall under.

You are correct, my mistake. I had almost forgotten that it should be date of application.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
I applied on 22 Jun 2010, and application was approved on 6th july 2010.
The visa start date was however 6th september 2010.

In this case i believe i need 75 points..

Please confirm. And thanks a lot for your comments.
