Can mother go as my dependant?

Post by FYK » Sun Oct 02, 2011 8:04 am

Hi,

I am planning on applying for my UK student visa for post graduation.
Along with me, my husband and 2 children ( under the age of 3) will accompany me as my dependants.

Now the problem is that my mother lives with me and she is 71 years of age and a widow. She has nobody to take care of her. I have my sister who is happily married but my sister does not want to take care of our mother, so I have decided that I will take her along as leaving her behind is useless. She cant live alone and is a depression patient and anold woman who needs constant care.

I am finanacially sound and I shall be supporting my dependants in the UK. My mother is also self sufficient and she can support herself in UK without taking any help of public funds etc.

Can my mother be my dependant and live with me?

:?: I want to take her. WHat is the best solution to this?
Does she need to apply independantly? etc.

Please advice!
thanks to all in advance.

Your mother cannot apply as your dependent if you are here as a tier 4 migrant.

She could possibly apply as a visitor but could only stay in the UK for 6 months in any 12 month period.
