Spouse visa - legalising / notarised copy of documents?

Post by cat_reversing » Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:43 pm

My Colombian husband will be applying for a spouse visa to come to the UK but I don't want to send my passport to him to use in his app. I've read that the copy of my passport should be notarised (as read on transpondia) but am unsure of whether I also need it to be legalised with an apostille.

Any solicitor can do this. You only need the page that contains your details and photo.

Notarised copy is sufficient enough, that too only if required by the local BHC.
No need for apostille, unless directed by local BHC.

We got married in colombia this summer, does our marrige cert also need an apostille before being translated? He will also be getting a migration report as he doesn't have his previous passport, does this need an apostille too, before translation?

Original marriage certificate + English translation of the certificate.

What is "migration report"? And who issues it?

Migration report shows when the citizen went out of and re entered their country. In this case it'll be issued by the DAS in colombia. My husband doesn't have his previous passport to show his previous migration history.

Thank you for your assistance.

Not sure if this document is required or relevant, but if you wish to include it in the application then:

Original migration report + English translation of the report.
