Visa Extension of Dependant of Work Permit holder

Post by amsdreamz » Thu Oct 06, 2011 3:20 pm

Dear All
My wife is a Work Permit Holder since October 2007 and her work permit expires by end of October 2012 after which, she will be eligible to apply for ILR. She works as a Staff Nurse.
We got married in April 2008 and I have got Dependant Work Permit Visas until October 2012. We are happily married and last year we bought our own house and our plans are to settle over here permanently.
Now in May 2009, I was convicted of Drink Driving and was imposed a ban of 14 months and fine of £ 300.00 by the Court. I have been working in an Engineering company since last two years and my salary with bonuses is almost 35K.
I wanted to know what options are available with me to apply for the extension of my current visas (which will expire in October 2012), as I am aware that according to the new rules, I will not be able to get an ILR for the unspent conviction I have and which will become spent after May 2014.
Also would it be better for me to apply for my extension after my wife gets her ILR and what happens after i get my visas extended, if possible.
Please advise and your help will be really appreciated.
Thanks
