If you gave us more information about the category in which you are applying and your financial circumstances then we might be able to comment.

Thanks, wel i have been married to my british husband now for 6 years and
we are moving back to the UK . I have been told that i can apply for an indefinite leave to enter. I own a property outright in the uk and we both hope to aply for jobs when we get there. How much do you think is the min we need in our accts to show we wont rely on public funds?

Have you taken (and passed) the Life in the UK test (KOL)? You'll need this in order to apply for ILE.
There is no set minimum for savings. It's at the ECO's discretion, taking into consideration your prospects of employment.

Unless you have very substantial funds, it would strengthen your application if at least one of you could obtain a written offer of employment in the UK before you apply.
One point you may want to consider regarding timing, the Government have proposed in the Consultation paper (which is going through the deliberation stage), is to withdraw the concession for granting ILE for those who have been married and living outside of the UK for 4 years or more. This may, or may not, be introduced in the Spring of 2012, depending on the outcome of the Consultation.
