court marriage

Post by Mkapa » Fri Oct 07, 2011 12:38 am

My girlfriend is here on a student visa. I have a residence card and would like to get married (court marriage). Can she stay on in the country on the basis that I have a residence card? What is the procedure following the court marriage?

After the court marriage, is she eligible to apply for a spouse visa?

What is your immigration status in the UK?

What type of student visa does your girlfriend have and how long was it issued for?

What do you mean by a 'court marriage'

immigration for family members

I am here as a dependant (family member) of an EEA national.

My girlfriend has a tier 4 student visa.

By 'court marriage' I mean 'civil partnership'

Thanks

Civil partnership is for same-sex couples. If you marry you may forfeit your dependant status unless you have already. Do you continue to live with the EEA national on whom you are dependant and are you working?
