Moving back to the UK

Hi,

I'm an Englishman and I moved to Canada about 3 years ago and have a permanent resident status.. I married my wife there and we have a son together.

We have visited the United Kingdom to visit friends and family and my Canadian wife has expressed a wish to move there in the next few years.. How easy would this be to do? and what would be the correct way to go about it?

Your wife would need to apply for a spouse settlement visa (form VAF4a).
Under current regulations she would be issued with a 2 year visa, after which she would apply for Indefinate Leave to Remain (ILR). One point to bear in mind however is that the Government are proposing to increase the 2 year 'probationary' period to 5 years...possibly from April next year.
You will have to prove (with documented evidence) that you will be able to support yourselves financially without claiming Public Funds and have adequate accommodation available for the three of you on your arrival. The application will also have to include evidence of the validity of your relationship. The visa fees aren't cheap!
I'm assuming you're both over the age of 21 and your son has British Nationality.
