ILR

Post by DMB » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:11 am

My wife who is Thai was hoping to apply for ILR in the next couple of weeks. We just got the letter back from Cambridge Regional College and it confirms my wife passed Esol Skills for Life at Entry Level 2.But they go on to say that although the course did contain Citizenship material it doesnt conform to Home Office requirements. After further correspondence with the College they state that they have sent this letter out and have never had any problems with peoples applications for Citizenship and ILR.
I am worried that the visa will be refused and if so where does that leave us apart from the fact we would have lost £972. My wife has lived here in the UKwith me for the past 4 1/2 years where she has worked as a careworker for the past 4 years.
Any advice would be greatly received?

The UKBA have tightened the rules on the ESOL qualification. The course provider must now be on the approved list.
If she has been in the UK for over 4 years, isn't her English a high enough standard to take the Life in the UK test?

My wifes application has to be sent in the next week or two so it is too late for the UK test.
She did the esol course as this was what we thought was the correct route and she would learn more practical English in the process.
The course cost over £500 and we were told this was the right course by the college.
The College said that they are an accredited College and her certificates are from Cambridge University Esol Examination board.
I have no idea what we are supposed to do now?

My wifes qualification is ESOL Skills for life at Entry Level2. pass at Reading,Speaking,Writing and Listening.
Would this be sufficient to apply for an extension using form FLR?
