Completing the VAF4A online

Post by Abelel » Wed Nov 02, 2011 2:27 pm

Hi,

Stuck at the first hurdle:-)

We are applying for the first 2 year spouse visa for my husband online. Its not clear which 'Type of Visa' we should pick from the dropdown menu. It's not settlement as that's after 2 years, right?

So do we pick Other?

We're also not sure what to write in Purpose of Application. My husband is Egyptian and we're applying for him to come to the UK so do we select Overseas Territory and Commonwealth.

Thanks!

From the drop-down you choose:

Settlement.>husband

Thanks.

I'm a bit confused then as to what settlement is? Is it not what we apply for after the two year probationary period? We haven't done that bit yet...

You are applying for a visa that leads to settlement (after a probationary period) so it's called and classified as as settlement visa.

Hi,

OK, so we have go to the end of the form with a few more questions:

- Is it OK to leave postcode blank if there isn't one? In contact details.
- When asking husband's current employment, it asks if he has any other jobs or occupations in addition to the one entered. If we leave it blank it says required field. Is this current other jobs or are we meant to put work history in here? Or will N/A (Not applicable) be OK if he only has one job.
- He is currently self-employed so is it OK to put his own details in as employer in the employment section. The same goes for me (the sponsor) as I am also self-employed.
- Have you lived with your sponsor in a relationship like a marriage or civil partnership at any time (including since a wedding or civil partnership ceremony)? What does this mean? When we are in Egypt, we share an apartment together with only us in it but for fairly short periods at a time. Does this qualify as yes to the above question?

I believe there are some other forms we have to complete which are referenced during the application: VAF4A Annex and INF6 (or is this just for parents and grandparents, ie, not me as the wife). Where do we get these and how do we include them in the application?

Sorry for so many questions....almost there!

Thanks!

Abelel wrote:Hi,

What should we put for the travel date on VAF4a form?

We have read that we shouldn't plan to travel before three months from the application date, but now read that the visa will be issued from the date we write. If it takes less than three months, we then have to wait three months anyway. Is that right?

Is there any benefit to write an earlier date?

Thanks.
