Visitor Visa Queries

Post by jagankumar » Mon Nov 07, 2011 6:52 pm

I'm planning to apply for a visitor visa for my in-law. She holds a USA visitor's visa and is flying to USA from India. Her stay in the USA is for 6months. She wants to visit us for 3-4months during her return from the USA. In what category should she apply for UK visitor visa, as I read that it is not possible to apply for a transit visa for a duration more than 3 days.
Since she is staying in the USA for 6months, can she apply for a visitor visa from the USA or will it be possible to apply for a post dated visa (7months earlier) from India itself.

Applying for a UK visa if you have temporary permission to stay wrote:Your application may be referred back to your country of residence, which may cause delays.
She should keep that in mind, and apply accordingly.

Ok Sure, Sushdmehta... what am wondering is how she will show her upto date bank statement, which would be from india, she cant get the latest bank statements at the time of application from USA. Also is that possible to file her application over post? or does she needs to be file in person?

Recently we have seen similar thing with our relatives. They applied in USA for UK visitor visa for their 5 day visit. Their daughter is the sponsor and she provided her US bank statements as a sponsor. NO bank statements of their native country were submitted. They got visa within a week after submitting their biometrics.

Ok Thanks for all of your replies,

In this case, what are all the proofs we need to show that she is not potential immigrant.
Some background about the applicant details,
She is retired teacher, living alone in chennai and getting pension.
She is travelling to USA almost every 6 months to visit her elder daughter and return back to India. This would be her 4th trip to USA.

We would be sponsoring for her trip, so we will maintain some £1000+ in our account.
If she applies UK visitor visa from USA, she cant get the updated bank bank statements from India to prove that she got asset/fixed deposits and pension in India.

Please advice what are all the proofs required for to make our case stronger.
