Help with British Citizenship (Naturalisation) application

Post by peto121 » Mon Nov 14, 2011 7:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I am an EEA national holding my confirmation of PR status for over 12 months and applying as both a student (prior to 2009) and a self-sufficient person (from 2009).

As I am going to make my application through NCS later this week and have got some enquires regarding filling in my AN applicaiton form, I sincerely seek help and answers to my enquires.

1. For giving details of all absences from the United Kindom during the last five years (2.2 in Section 2 Residence requirements)

As I have held my PR confirmation for over 12 months by now, can anyone clarify for me that if the one-year of holding PR confirmation should be taken into account of the last five-year period? Or should I provide my absence detail for the five-year period prior to acquisition of my PR confirmation?

2. EEA nationals exercising EC Treaty Rights (2.4-2.6 in Section 2 Residence requirements)

May I ask if I need to complete this part (2.4-2.6), please?

3. May I ask what I should put in 3.1 What is your occupation of Section 3 Good Character Requirement, please? At the moment I am a self-sufficient person and looking for a job but I didn't register with any job centres.

I'm very sorry to bother you guys.

Any replies and answeres would be highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Using your numbering :-
  1. They need dates in and out of the UK in the 5-year period up to the Naturalisation application date.
  2. Yes complete
  3. Occupation? Something like "Currently unemployed".
Do ensure that you were physically in the UK exactly 5 years before UKBA will receive the Naturalisation application.

Have you already passed the Life in the UK Citizenship test, or have you still got that "pleasure" to come?

Hi John!

Thank you so much for your quick reply and also your reminder of what I should be aware of for my application.

Yes, I took the Life in the UK test in March this year and already got my certificate.

I was definitely present in the United Kingdom exactly 5 years before UKBA receives my application.

But I am a bit concerned, as I was not in the United Kingdom between 19 December 2006 and 27 December 2006. I am applying through NCS on 17th November 2011 (this Thursday), may I ask if this matters and if my absence as shown above will have any negative effect for my applcation?

Thank you very much again!

I

Just have the absences listed in the form. There will have no negative impact.
If you hold a PR, there is no need to fill in sections 2.4-2.6 which are only required if you need to prove your PR.

I was not in the United Kingdom between 19 December 2006 and 27 December 2006. I am applying through NCS on 17th November 2011 (this Thursday)
Those days out of the UK in December 2006 do not matter at all, assuming of course the 450 day test is not a problem.

Had you been out of the UK around 18th or 19th November 2006, that would be a problem, given the date of your NCS appointment.

Thank you so much Jambo and John! Both of you are Superstars!

I didn't make any trip outside UK around 17th-20th November 5 years ago, hope that it won't take long for UKBA to receive my application.

I thank you not only for your fast response and helpful answers from you, but also your warmhearted reminder of what I might sometimes overlook.

This forum is a real delight and I am not alone in the process of making my BC application.

Thank you very much again!

May joy and love be with you, always!
