Tier 1 extension: Do I need to still maintain funds while..

Post by tirfk » Sun Nov 27, 2011 11:17 am

hi

A quick question- I recently applied for tier 1 extension for me along with 2 dependents
The question while i wait for the reply from home office, do i have to still maintain the funds? Guidelines say The funds for dependents to be maintained throughout. please shed some light if anyone have any experience in this regard.
Thank you

If you are refused and need to re-apply (rather than appeal) you will not have sufficient maintenance over the required period. Otherwise you can use the money at any time.

I meant to say during theapplication process, theywill call the bank and check about the genunity of the statements- but do they also enquire if the funds are still available? If not available- will that be a ground for refusal?

They won't call the bank; if the statement is not, or does not appear to be, genuine or in a format prescribed in the guidance, they will refuse the application. More important is the issue of confidentiality; the bank would never (due to legal obligations) entertain the notion of giving out the personal information of its clients to a govt. agency unless ordered to do so by a judge in a criminal investigation.
