Partner’s achievements

Post by ajilani » Thu Jul 15, 2004 6:03 am

Hi,

My wife has Bachelor Degree in Science (14 years) and I am going to claim 10 points. Will they validate my wife's degree with NARIC?

On the other side it is clearly mentioned in HSMP guide that:

"8.6.5 In order to score in this category, you must provide evidence that your spouse or unmarried partner is educated to degree level (e.g. BA or BSc) or an equivalent vocational or professional qualification."

My wife is educated to degree level and here they (HSMP) didn't mentioned that they will validate it with NARIC.

Regards,
Azher

Dear ajilani,

They usually check all degrees provided with NARIC as NARIC has an online system that let them do this verification online. And offcourse, they wrote BA,BSc in terms of British equivalent degree. A Master degree owned in Pakistan (not for engineering) is equal to their Bachelors Ordinary.

You wont be able to get points for this unless you show your wife worked for anywhere for a period of one year which requires a graduate level degree.

Afzal

if without your partners cert. you can score 65, then you need not worry. Also if you notice that maximum rejections are due to the position, experience and salary. If at all any rejections due to education is there it could be because of excess point claimed for masters. Refer to earlier post people said that they were awarded only 15 points for their degree where as they claimed 25 for deg+masters. For degree they always (almost) awarded the points. So if your wife has done some graduation it should be valid and you will get 10 pts for it.

Raoms,

I am working as Product Manager (Cisco, Belkin, Fluke Network, Black Box). I am working on this position since last 5+ years. I am responsible for B2B and B2C sales and marketing of these products.

Can I claim 50 points? More than 8 peoples are working under my departmental management.

Please advise.

Regards,
Azher.

yes with 5+ years you can claim 50 pts. If you can show a gradual progress i.e from area manager , asst. prod manager etc it could be much better. Direct senior level no one will beleive even if 8 people working under you. You may want to show the salary slips and tax cert. to make your claim better.

Raoms,

I started my first job as MIS Officer and then promote to Systems Admin. Second job I started as Systems and Network Engineer then promoted to Manager Technical Support. Current job I started as Product Manager and still working at same position.

Are these ok?

there is some confusion. Product manager position is of sales. The earlier positions what you mentioned are concerned to network which are considered as senior positions. I am not sure of the last position. Its seems that you changed your line. Can't confirm weather its ok or not.

senior members please comment.

for getting 50 points
10 years work experience in a graduate level job including senior or specialist level work experience for 5 years - 50 points

they said including so you should get 50 pts since you have specialist(past jobs) level & senior(present job) level experience.
