Tier 1 (General) Extension after UNDECIDED ILR SET(O)Postal

Dear Members,

I have made a postal ILR SET(O) application to UKBA and the same is acknowledged by UKBA.

I intend to apply for Tier 1 (General) extension before my current Tier 1 (General) leave to remain in UK expires.

I have read the Tier 1 (General) application form and guidance notes Version 04/11 made available on UKBA website.
Following are my queries with regards to that:
A) Question C6 : Current Passport or Travel Document ?
Here the reason for NOT submitting is Elsewhere in the UKBA (Go to
question C7)
B) Question C7 : If any of the required passports are not enclosed then
please give details why applicant is unable to provide them ?
C) Question D26 : Does the applicant currently have any other
applications with us on which he/she is awaiting a decision ?
The answer is YES and I have to give details of the previous ILR
application in my case.
D) Question D28 : Was this application submitted before the applicants
leave expired ?
The answer to this will be YES as I am seeking to book an appointment
before my current Tier 1 (General) visa expires.
E) Question D29 : Has the date of applicants leave as stated in his/her
passport now passed ?
The answer is NO (Goto question D30)
F) Question D30 : Does the applicant currently have an appeal with the
Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ?
The answer is NO (Goto Part E).
G) Question G2 Current Passport or Travel Document ?
The answer is NO
If the applicant has confirmed at question C6 that he/she has not been
able to provide his/her current passport or travel document he/she
should provide one of the following documents ?
Current National Identity Document (or) Valid United Kingdom Driving
License
The answer is YES I have the valid UK driving license

Based on the answers to the above points addressed in the application form and guidance notes for Tier 1 (General) Version 04/11, I understand that I can apply for extension under Tier 1 (General) category before expiry of current leave even though one of my previous ILR SET(O) application to UKBA is still awaiting any decision (Which could take 6 months as informed by Immigration Enquiries Bureau).

Kindly let me know the following :
1. Can I apply for Tier 1 (General) extension even before any decision is made by UKBA on my ILR application ?
2. If I seek to apply for my Tier 1 (General) extension then what will happen to my ILR SET (O) application?
3. If I can apply for either Tier 1 (General) extension (or) ILR SET(O) at a given time then, Can I apply for ILR SET(O) after seeking successful Tier 1(General) extension ?
How can this be facilitated with UKBA ?

I have only few weeks to decide on my course of action before my current leave expires considering that UKBA has not made any decision on my ILR SET(O) application even after 3 months of submission and which could take more that 6 months for decision ie after expiry of my current visa.
