Documents Still Not Returned after being granted ILR!!!!

I received my ILR in October last year and in March 2011 i received a letter from the HO saying that they still possessed my "valuable documents" and that i should write back to them within 6 weeks otherwise these documents will be securely destroyed.I immediately responded by recorded mail which was received and signed for,however after several follow up phone calls I am being told to keep waiting.

Its been 9 months now and this seems far too long to be waiting for a return of documents.

Advice on what my next step should be would be greatly appreciated.

1. R u saying that wen u received u ILR in October you only received u passport back and supporting documents were kept by HO.
2. If that was the case why didnt u ask for them at that time instead off waiting for that long.
3. U have been in touch with them and still no documents i wud suggest to contact your local MP and ask to write to HO on u behalf and inquire about it.

My passport had expired so my ILR(residence) permit came on a separate document.Have sent several letters and several phone calls but without much success.
