How long? One second, or anything longer! Seriously, as soon as the legal marriage has happened there is nothing to stop the visa being applied for.

Back in 2001 my own wife's spouse visa was granted just 17 days after our legal marriage, and just 12 days after our religious wedding.

So if I was to apply only shortly after our marriage, what sort of evidence can I provide as proof of sustaining marriage, I am in constant phone contact to my fiancee at the moment while i am in Uk but when I am married and submitting papers I will be in pakistan and won't have any phone records for after marriage.... Is it advisable to wait a while before making the application or will this not be an issue..

you cannot submit phone records as evidence of being married. you will have to get a marriage certificate from a magistrates court or whichever is the issuing body for marriage certificates

The "evidence of contact" as regards a newly-married couple can obviously include evidence from before the marriage, to help prove that the marriage is real, and not a marriage of convenience.
