British citizenship for children to ILR parents

Hello,
I have a query regarding British citizenship for my children born in UK.
I'm due for ILR in Feb 2012 and my Tier 1 visa expires in Apr 2012.

Is it required to apply for ILR for children?
Do they need to have UK visa while registering for British Citizenship provided I get ILR in Feb'2012?
Also can you pls advise process to apply for British Citizenship for children born in UK and further for applying PIO (Person of Indian Origin)?
Any idea how long will it take for this whole process?
