Evidence of 200K in UK, Natwest statement enough?

Post by JohnM » Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:23 pm

Hello

Thank you very much for your help! :)

I tried to find it on the forum and on Border Agency website and guidance to visa but could not find it.

I live in UK for several years already and I have 200K in Natwest Savings Account. Natwest does not provide any letters. Is it enough to send Home Office just a statement from my savings account as evidence? I assume I don't need to send anything else because Natwest is well known British bank regulated by FSA.

Can someone please confirm that my logic is correct because I could not find it anywhere. This forum is great, thank you! :)

Not for free! They will for a fee.

Please refer to para 71 of the guidance

Thank you Lucapooka. I checked this guidance about dozen times already. Well, their description of the "letter" fits to what you can see on the "statement", Natwest bank statement has all this information.

I also called Border Agency today. It took me only 5 mins! The line was free! And the person there told me that yea, bank statement from Natwest should be enough. But, he added, it must be notarized or have an official bank stamp on it. I told him that Natwest does not do stamps, they say they send only postal statements and all of them are without stamps. He said - Ok, if the bank does not offer it, then it's Ok to send their standard statement because it is Natwest anyway, well known British bank.

So, I guess it answers it. I still does not feel 100% satisfied but maybe it's because I sent application by special delivery 2 weeks ago and still did not receive biometrics letter... I hope my bank statement should be enough. Anyway, I did not have much choice. I think they should write more details in their guidance because British banks are very strict and lazy. So they provide lots of info in the guidance about complicated cases but nothing about simple case when you have all money on one account at Natwest. Anyway, in the application form they ask me to sign that I allow them to do checks with the bank. So I think it should not be too hard to check it with Natwest that I have money there. I hope Border Agency would not make my life difficult with this application. They call me high-value migrant, so I hope I will be treated as such at least in the application process. Anyway, I don't see what else I could send them and person on the phone agreed with me, so I guess it should be enough.

I will update this forum when I get visa. :) If anyone had any similar question, please write here and put my mind to rest... This is frustrating... I had administrative review once because I forgot to put some stupid certificate with the application and it took 7 months(!), I hope it would not happen again.

When I spoke to them, they did not tell me anything about letter for a fee. I have Natwest Private account, so I guess if they did not tell me, they don't have it. Or even if they have it, I could not use it because they did not tell me! I described them that it is for visa for Home Office and the said they can't give any letter, only standard statement by post!

Original Natwest Bank Statements should be enough. It's foolish on the part of CSR to ask stamping on original bank statement. That tells you what sort of guys are sitting in UKBA and taking decisions.

In Tier 1, investement is the main eligibility and UKBA will defintely do the due diligence. As far as Natwest is concern, perhaps the most laziest service in the UK, not to mention they act more like nationlised bank.

Got visa today!

So statement was enough (without stamp, etc.).

I can't agree with you, Silverline. I find people in UKBA not very focused sometimes but generally very good professionals.

With regards to Natwest, I find them pretty good on customer services level. They could not provide me with any good loan facilities, unlike 4 other banks, but their customer services are the best in UK in my opinion. Very friendly and you always speak to british person who genuinely helps you. I was with HSBC before and it was nightmare!
