road traffic intend of prosecution

Post by ialacis » Sat Jan 28, 2012 2:35 pm

hi
im on ILR and today i recieved a letter from police saying
i have gone over the speed limit and they intend to prosecute me,
apparently there has been roadwork sign in place and speed limit of 40Mile per hour but my recordspeed is 56mile

my dashboard doesnt function properly and the speed meter doesnt move which is why it happened :(

there is a small print saying on some cases they will issue a fix penalty notice after recieving the form back, i want to know what if they prosecute me? will it be a criminal record? will it affect my british citizenship ? do i hae to wait for it to become spent before i can apply ? :(

im sending the form back and attching a letter explaining the dashboard problem and apologizing, will it make it worse if i mention dashboard probem?

some other people have got caught on the same road and protesting against it !!

Do not panic. FPN are discounted- no need to worry, just pay the fine in time.

Sorry I misread your post. I can see they have not even issued an FPN. It is only a pat on your wrist. I wouldnt even bother apologising, it makes no difference.

OK, it appears you are not being prosecuted for that, but just that, a speedometer not working properly, is a criminal offence. I suggest you get it fixed without delay, and one reason for that is that more than one FPN will cause a problem with a Naturalisation application.
