Is FLR spouse visa a "UK residence permit"

Post by plum2pudd » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:31 pm

Hello. I am a UK citizen and have a Russian wife who has been living with me here in the UK for 15 months. We would like to visit Spain in September but my wife has been told quite definitively by a Russian friend that she cannot apply for the Spanish schengen visa for travel in September as she must have at least 3 months left of her FLR visa after we return from Spain (my wife's expires in November). IS this true? I think from reading the conditions here http://www.maec.es/subwebs/Consulados/L ... vices.aspx that my wife needs a valid passport with expiry date more than 3 months after holiday in Spain and also her passport needs to show "UK residence permit". I am not at all clear if FLR is a UK residence permit but I assume that it MUST be as my wife's name is on the council tax and she has her own bank account. Very grateful for any unequivocal clarification on this issue.
