I would like to thank everyone on this board and in particular the administrators. I have found invaluable information here which has helped me with a Tier 1 application and recently an application for indefinite leave to remain.
Particularly helpful was the advice to:
(i) include a spreadsheet of all the absences from the UK
(ii) include copies of everything as it makes the immigration officer's job easier
(iii) Letter from employer and P60s for all the relevant years.
My process was fairly straightforward with no questions. I submitted Payslips, bank account statements, P60s and a letter from my employer. She looked at all of the documents but collected the past 3 months payslips plus the P60s.
The only issue was that there was a long queue due to problems collecting people's payments (please remember to pre-authorise the payment with your bank beforehand).
Having said that, our appointment was from 08.30, we saw our officer at about 10.00 and had our passports with stamps by 12.00.

When you say you kept copies, did you keep copies of literally all the documents ? and how many copies each ?

I took the original and copies of pretty much everything (except the acutal application form). I probably had too much documentation e.g. she didn't need 3 years of bank statements, but I erred on the side of too much rather than too little information.

I didn't find anywhere in application form or guidance note that tier 1 applicants require employer's letter. Where did you find this information?

Employer letter for Tier-1 is not a requirement but it’s nice to have it with you and advisable especially if you want your employer to clarify something in your application e.g. business absences, any date mismatch in pay slips and bank statements etc.
But if you think your application is pretty straight forward and you are 110 % confident, then you don’t need the employer letter.
I would still suggest taking a simple employer letter with you which should have your start date, salary and job title.

A question on this, if you are running a limited company, do you suggest get yourself a letter from accountant or from yourself as you will be the director and employer as well ???

I think it won’t be needed if you are running a limited company.
