Child Citizenship Status (Father has PR Mother as Dependant

Post by Jmurphy » Sun Feb 05, 2012 1:19 pm

Hello,

I am a Sri Lankan National, living in UK for last seven years.

I have Permanent Residency for UK and my wife is my dependant on a Dependant Visa.

She is pregnant and we are expecting our first child by end of next month.

She can only apply for ILR in Oct this year.

Now, my question is about my child status ? When He or She is born, what his / her citizenship status would be ?

Will my child have Srilankan Citizenhip or British Citizenship ( as one of the parents hold UK PR ) or will the child only have PR straight at Birth ?

Any advice would be really valued.

Thanks :)

Baby will automatically be British, if born in the UK.
