Does a UK student visa allow me to travel withing the EU?

I am from China and am studying in the UK with a student visa. I want to visit Switzerland and Spain during the Easter holidays, but don't know if I need to apply for an additional visa to visit these countries.

Does anybody know?

You do need a separate visa if you wish to travel to those countries. You only need to apply Schenegen visa for any of the EU countries (other than the UK) and you should be able to travel between those countries.
