will divorce affect your citizenship given few mths ago?

Post by fiancee from singapore » Sat Feb 11, 2012 10:20 pm

ok im here today to help a friend to ask about her situation.

she married her british husband, and she had passed her Life in UK test, submitted her application for citizenship. has a british passport, and currently is a british citizen for just a couple of months.

she just found out recently that her husband is having an affair and she wanted a divorce. however she is concerned if her british passport and citizenship will be revoked because she just got it a few months back. she is worried she will be misjudged for trying to get the citizenship and ditch the marriage. she gave up everything in her homeland and went all the way to her husband in UK and now that she is devastated from the affair he is having, she felt she lost everything if she is asked to leave and losing her current job and all.

is there a limited number of years she needs to stay married after being a citizen? Will the next passport renewal be affected if she decides to divorce now?

I asked her to come into this forum to fseek advise but requested me to seek help on her behalf

so if any one knows the answer, kindly advise, thank you.
