Hi,
I am going to apply ILR soon but i have one doubt can any one please advice me?

I came to UK on student visa in 2003 for Phd and finished my Phd with 8 months of student visa left and i straight away started in a small limited company and later the company applied work permit for me after 7 months. I am with one employer in last 5 years and 6 months.
While doing Phd i never worked more than 20 hours in a week.

Question:
In the employer letter what i should asked them to write, my joining date or work permit starting date?
Also two years back i got married and brought my wife from india and to bring my wife from india I showed the company reference letter which stating my joining date.

Can anyone shed any light or shared they similar experince?

I will be highly appreciate for the response.
