last day post can be tough. It's just on the borderline. How are you so sure that you will get the statement on that day??

In case you do send it one day before, ensure that you send it by Royal Mail same day service but don't use a courier service.

Barclays mailed me the statements today by normal delivery, so shud recve it 16 morning. Is it true that the day I send an application by royal mail special delivery is considered as recving date by home office?

It is considered as date of posting and not the date of receipt. UKBA considers date of posting for Royal mail posts.

I have sent initial & extension applications a day before current leave expired. however u need to be more careful. If your application is returned as invalid (payment not gone through, invalid photos, form etc) then you will be in trouble as there will not be any right of appeal

-make payment by bank draft
-photos should be as per the photo guidance
-ensure you fill the form completely & use the right form
-double check all the docs provided

Read the guidance notes thoroughly

Make sure the application is valid. Keep a copy of everything that's submitted.

Thanx guys I think according to the new guidelines as on 13 feb 2012 they will contact you if any documents missing and it has to be submitted by the applicant within 7 working days.

DON'T assume UK BA will contact you for ANY document you miss.
Example - if you forget to send your entire bank statement or all payslips or degree certificate UK BA will not contact you for these documents but simply refuse your application. Only if a page in a series is missing will it contact you.

Guidance:
If the applicant does not provide the specified documents, we will contact him/her to ask for them only when he/she has submitted:
• A sequence of documents, and some of the documents in the sequence have been omitted (for example, if one bank statement from a series is missing);
•A document in the wrong format;
•A document that is a copy and not an original document.
We will contact the applicant or their representative in writing, and the evidence must be received by the UK Border Agency processing centres within 7 working days. If the applicant does not send in the correct documents we may refuse the application. We will not ask for further information where none of the information has been submitted (for example an English language certificate is missing); or where we do not anticipate that a correction of minor errors or omissions will lead to an approval because the application will fail for other reasons.

Would receiving biometric appointment letter after couple of weeks one can safely assume application is valid and will not be returned? I.e everything about the application, fees, photos, documents, passport have been received and validated?
