Ltd Company - Can we Carry P45 instead of P60 - Pls help

Post by ashvar123 » Thu Feb 16, 2012 10:50 am

Dear Friends,

Could any one of you help me with this case..?

Case -
I started with Ltd company..last year after I have taken redundancy from my previous employer in Nov 2010. I did not take any salary till 31st March 2011 but took dividends equivalent to 9000 GBP.

Question -
When I asked my Accountant to provide a P60, she mentioned that you did not take any salary so .. no need to produce P60 for the same.. and you anyway have P45 from your previous employer.. does that mean - I can show my P45 instead of P60.?

I have come across some posts saying that we may need to produce previous years P60 is that mandatory..?

Please help//

Regards,
Ashvar

In the Tier 1 Policy Guidance document the P60 is brought up as an example of an official tax document (see 114. (iv)). There are other examples mentioned so do check that part of the guidance.

Your company may not have been set up as an Employer for PAYE/NI purposes if you (or any other officers) have taken a salary from the company. If this is the case then there would be no P60s to produce. Just speak to your accountant regarding what happened and the rules behind it.
Please don't private message me or e-mail me for free personal advice - you are just wasting your time writing something that won't get answered.
