there will indeed be a higher income threshold than there is currently, along with several other changes, some are already being phased in, some will hit the spouse applications no doubt around april, but i think its more likely to be June when the income threshold is going to raise.mosesmoses wrote:Hi guys, quick question
I heard that from next month they will make it a requirement to have £21~£26k per year income, is this true???? if anyone knows where I can find this information I would be extremenly greatful as my first application for spouse visa was refused on other grounds and we are looking to re-apply in april but if this is true then I am totally screwed
when changes take place there is usually something on the UKBA website.ghuraba wrote:Surely they have to give dates when these things are going to be changed? Or people like the original poster and I could be affected with applications that fall between these changes not knowing the dates they come into effect. Which would mean our applications being refused. For example if I decide to apply in April and all of a sudden it is anounced that these changes begin from April. As opposed to saying in April that from June the changes will take place so you have 3 months to meet the criterian.

the other grounds ~ are they not appealable?

Hi Mel,
we were refused on 2 grounds 1st my wife didnt have the required english mark (she did ielts and we thought she had enough marks) and 2nd not enough proof on contact. We did appeal but as expected they simply dismissed it because of the english :\
I have been searching and trying to find this information on the ukba website but I can't seem to see it anywhere and now my father has confirmed that he heard it on a immigration program on tv that this requirement will be set in april
as we only speak on the phone daily we only submitted phone bills but they were numerous and very detailed showing all calls and sms sent, durations, costs etc... and some photos of us together when I went to visit + my flight ticketAcrossBorders wrote:Hi Moses, mosesmoses wrote:

What evidence did you provide as proof of contact in yout original application?
when you say you appealed, do you mean an appeal at the AIT or the review at the embassy? if that was the time scale?mosesmoses wrote:Hi Mel,MelC wrote:there will indeed be a higher income threshold than there is currently, along with several other changes, some are already being phased in, some will hit the spouse applications no doubt around april, but i think its more likely to be June when the income threshold is going to raise.mosesmoses wrote:Hi guys, quick question

but it was rejected and it was said we need to show greeting cards, emails, letters, skype etc....
it is not guaranteed that they will increase maintenance requirement although this is what they have proposed. I imagine that the reason for the delay in the announcement is that they have run into problems with their proposals and they are aware that if the threshold is too high they are going to face legal challenges. There are no changes that will effect spouse visas that have been announced yet-i am not sure what you are referring to when you mention changes being phased in in April?MelC wrote:there will indeed be a higher income threshold than there is currently, along with several other changes, some are already being phased in, some will hit the spouse applications no doubt around april, but i think its more likely to be June when the income threshold is going to raise.mosesmoses wrote:Hi guys, quick question

Thats is BS, I have heard and read so much that IELTS is accepted and also that 4 band in Speaking and Listening is enough? I have just submitted the VISA application for my wife in India and she got overall 5 band. Listening 5.5 and Speaking 4.5. now I am worried too. I thought it was enough.mosesmoses wrote:Hi guys, first of all thanks to all for the replies!
Let me just clear up what happened with my first application. My wife took ielts and scored overall 5 but she was refused because her listening score was only 4! Stupidly on my part I had thought they would look at her overall score but turns out only speaking and listening is looke at *sigh*
now onto the contact, i was talking of the eco's decision and his reasoning. I had the exact same reaction as u guys. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Having then spoken to a few solicitors they all seemed confident this would be overturned on appeal but they all said the appeal would be refused because of the english requirement.
So not expecting much but on hope we appealed and as expected it was rejected, they simply wont budge on it!! So for anyone thinking of Ddoing eilts, DONT!! Not for spouse visa anyway, after alot of research i found out there is no eilts equivalent of A1 !!!
Can anyone give me a link to the information regarding income change, i've been searching but cant seem to find it on the ukba
