Tier 2 Question- switching to dependant from tier2

Post by Bijuk » Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:29 pm

Hi

My friend and his wife r planning to get Tier2 visas seperately through their offices.

So if they both get tier 2 visas, and if either one of them feels like quitting the job, will it be easy to switch to become a dependant? Will there be any restrictions or complications in this?
They are not yet sure if they can get tier2 visa through their offices and thats why theyy are applying separately . currently both are in psw visa ( married last year whilst on PSW visa and havent changed to dependant)

Thanks in advance for your advise

Switching into dependant is not possible; it can only be done as an application for entry clearance (visa).

Thats a weird rule for me ..so a tier2 holder cant switch to be the dependant of another tier2 holder even if he/she goes back to home country and apply for it ..strange !!

Thanks Lucapoola

An application inside the UK is referred to as switching and that is not possible. An application made outside the UK is not considered as switching and is possible. He can apply as PBS depen't outside the UK.
