Hi

One of company from UK demanded 2K from me to provide me sponshorship. Is it legal. Also I am supposed to pay visa fee + travel apart from this 2K. And will get initial expenditure before I get offer. once i get offer it will be 60:40 ratio of pay.

But does it really cost 2k to get CoS and all other exp to sponsor ?

Please help me weather I should move further or not. I checked status of Company it is legal compnay I have checked it names for tier2 and its rating is also A.

It's the company who needs the license so I don't see why they are charging you this. If they want you to work for them, they should be paying the fee for the cost of registering as a sponsor.

This may well be a scam especially if the £2k is demanded up front.

BTW....according to niravbalani's post the company is already a Tier 2 "A" rated sponsor.

Niravbalani - are you sure it is the company itself who is demanding the £2k and not some intermediary posing as the agent for the company? The actual cost of assigning a CoS is £175 (fee to UKBA) + the cost of advertising for the RLMT (unless it is a shortage occupation). What you say about a 60:40 ratio is not understood - is this perhaps a further fee someone is demanding from you?

Sorry i missed the fact that the company is already a sponsor. The demand for money does sound like a scam in that case. Who is asking you for the money-they company or a third party?

Thanks Greenie and manci,

I myself checked for company rating and company registered number, at companieshouse.gov.uk and www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk for their rating so I am sure for this.

They explained there are other govt exp and exp to advertise for you. I also confirmed on net as manci says it should cost 175 + some more bucks to any legal fees and advertising, but it still could not reach to 2K, it may be 1K at max.

60:40 I mean once I am billable to client and starts workin for them, after getting Tier2, they will take 40% and give me 60%, which I am fine with.

There are no legal costs and no government fees apart from the GBP 175 assignment fee for a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship. Internet advertising for the required 28 days costs GBP 99, see http://recruiter.totaljobs.com/. Advertising at Jobcenter Plus is free.

Furthermore, no one can guarantee to obtain a CoS for you. The prospective sponsor can fail on a) the RLMT and/or b) the quota and/or c) the minimum salary they have to (but are not prepared to) offer you.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
