Hi guys,

My wife's grandparents want to visit us in Germany, they are vietnamese and my wife and her parents are holding holding german passport and they will be sponsor for everything such as flight ticket, accommodation etc.

what is the best way to apply visa? do we need to apply tourist visa?

On the face of it, they would need to apply for a tourist visa at the consulate in the country where they are resident.

:( which is quite complicate to be honest in vietnam they almost request 2 page of information inc. return flight ticket before applying visa!

There is a standard Schengen application form for short term entry visas. It's standard across the world.
